How to Add a Proxy in AdsPower

Add an HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS5 proxy to an AdsPower profile or import a list, check it, and let timezone, language and WebRTC follow the IP. Step by step, with fixes.

The short answer

In AdsPower, create or edit a profile, open its Proxy tab, click Custom and choose the proxy type — HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS5. Paste the whole line into Host:Port as host:port:username:password and AdsPower fills in the other fields. Click Check proxy, then OK. Give each profile its own IP, and leave timezone, language and location on Based on IP so the fingerprint matches the proxy.

Step by step

Set it up in 7 steps. AdsPower, about 4 minutes.

  1. 1

Copy one proxy line per profile

In the SerpProxies dashboard, copy a proxy line in HOST:PORT:USER:PASS form. For Premium Residential, generate a sticky line for the country you need. Copy every line exactly as the dashboard gives it, and use a different line for every profile.

  2. 2

    Open the profile's Proxy tab

In AdsPower, create a new profile or open an existing one with Edit from its three-dot menu (close the profile first — AdsPower only changes settings on a closed profile). Go to the Proxy tab and click Custom to enter your own proxy; Saved Proxies picks one you already added under Proxies.

  3. 3

    Choose the proxy type

Set the proxy type to HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS5. A static ISP line works with any of the three. For residential SOCKS5, use the SOCKS5 port the dashboard shows for that product, not the HTTP port. Leave SSH and No Proxy alone, and leave Change IP URL empty — AdsPower reserves it for mobile proxies.

  4. 4

    Paste the line into Host:Port

Paste the whole host:port:username:password line into the Host:Port field. AdsPower splits it and fills the port, username and password for you; check that the password did not end up in the port field.

  5. 5

    Click Check proxy

Click Check proxy. "Connection test passed" means AdsPower reached the proxy through the line; compare any IP and location it reports with the IP and country you bought. "Connection test failed" means it could not connect — fix the line before you save.

  6. 6

Keep the fingerprint on Based on IP

In the profile's fingerprint settings, leave Timezone, Location and Language on Based on IP (AdsPower's default), and set WebRTC to Replace or Disabled — never Real, which shows your own address. Click OK to save.

  7. 7

    Check the address

Open the profile, and in its browser open serpproxies.com/tools/ip-checker. The IPv4 address it shows should be your proxy's IP, and the location and ISP should match the country you bought. If it shows your own address, the proxy is not in use yet.

What AdsPower's proxy setting actually does

Where the setting lives, how it signs in, and how to prove it worked — the three things that decide whether an account sees the proxy or your own address.

Where it lives

Profile › Proxy › Custom

AdsPower keeps a proxy in each profile's Proxy tab, and a shared list under Proxies that profiles pick from via Saved Proxies. The setting belongs to the profile only — the computer and other profiles are untouched.

Username and password

AdsPower sends the username and password with HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5, so a dashboard line works as pasted. Whitelisting, set up by support on request for supported packages, works too from the computer AdsPower runs on.

Prove it before you log in

Check proxy confirms the connection before you save. After launch, the IP checker inside the profile confirms what sites see: address, ISP and location together.

One profile, one sticky IP

AdsPower gives every profile its own cookies and its own fingerprint. The proxy decides whether those identities stay apart. Two profiles on one IP look like one person running two accounts, and an IP that changes under a logged-in profile looks like an account that moved. So each profile gets one IP of its own, and that IP stays put for as long as the account lives.

For any account a profile stays logged in to — ads, social, marketplaces — use static ISP. The address is assigned to you and never rotates, so the account always returns from the same place and the profile's timezone and location never have to change.

Sticky residential sessions fit work that ends within the session: checking local ads or prices, researching, testing a page from a country. You set the session length when you generate the line in the dashboard, and the IP holds for that time — 30 minutes by default, up to 120. When it ends, the next connection gets a new IP, so don't park a long-lived account on it.

Adding many proxies at once

Open Proxies in AdsPower, click Add Proxy and paste your lines, one per line. AdsPower's documented formats are host:port, host:port:username:password, and either with a type prefix such as socks5:// in front. A change-IP URL goes in square brackets and a remark in curly braces at the end.

  • A static ISP line with a remark: 104.28.41.7:8000:user:pass{shop-us-01}
  • Use the remark for the account name, so each IP is easy to match to its profile later.
  • After saving, check the list: the Outbound IP column turns green when a proxy passes, red when it fails and grey while it waits for a check. Check proxy can run on many at once.

To hand proxies out, open the profile's Proxy tab, choose Saved Proxies and pick one. To assign a list to many profiles, select them in the profile list and use Edit proxy from the three-dot button. If you use random assignment, set AdsPower to choose among unused proxies only — choosing from the whole list can put two profiles on one IP.

Bulk Create (the + icon, then Mass import) takes the proxy in the same order: a proxytype column (http, https, socks5) and a proxy column in Host:Port:Username:Password form. Leave proxyurl empty — AdsPower uses it only for mobile proxies.

Let the fingerprint follow the IP

Sites compare the IP's location with what the browser reports. A New York IP with a Berlin timezone and German language is a mismatch most anti-fraud checks look for first. AdsPower can derive these from the proxy's IP, and by default it does.

AdsPower fingerprint settings and the proxy
TimezoneUseBased on IPWhyMatches the clock to the proxy's location
LocationUseBased on IPWhyGeolocation requests return the proxy's area
LanguageUseBased on IPWhyBrowser language fits the proxy's country
WebRTCUseReplace or DisabledWhyReplace shows the proxy's IP; Real exposes your own address
Disabled UDPUseOn, where availableWhyBlocks UDP traffic that bypasses the proxy (AdsPower patch 2.8.2.0 and later)

Because these are worked out from the IP, set the proxy before the profile's first launch, and don't swap it later. If you must change a profile's proxy, close the profile, change it, run Check proxy, and confirm the timezone and location again on the next launch.

If something doesn't work

  • Check proxy fails: compare host, port, username and password with the dashboard, and make sure the type matches the port — a residential HTTP port set as SOCKS5 fails. Paste the line again rather than editing fields by hand.
  • SOCKS5 authentication error: the username or password is wrong, or the port is the HTTP one. Copy the residential username unchanged, session suffix included, and use the SOCKS5 port the dashboard shows.
  • Wrong country: on residential, the country is part of the generated credentials — generate the line for the country you need in the dashboard. On static ISP, the IP's country is fixed; if AdsPower's lookup disagrees with serpproxies.com/tools/ip-checker, the two lookup databases differ, not the proxy.
  • WebRTC shows your real IP: WebRTC is set to Real. Switch it to Replace or Disabled, turn on Disabled UDP if your AdsPower version has it, and relaunch.
  • The profile shows your own IP: an encrypting extension or system tool is overriding the proxy. AdsPower's own advice is to remove that extension and pause VPN or firewall tools while testing.
  • Two profiles show the same IP: they share a line, or random assignment drew from the whole list. Give each profile its own.
  • The IP changed overnight: the profile is on a sticky residential session that expired. Move long-lived accounts to static ISP.

How to Add a Proxy in AdsPower: questions

Can't find the answer? A real person is on chat around the clock, or find us here:

Open the profile, go to its Proxy tab, click Custom, choose HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS5, paste host:port:username:password into Host:Port, click Check proxy and then OK.

host:port:username:password, the order the SerpProxies dashboard gives. In the Proxies list you can also prefix the type, such as socks5://, and add a remark in curly braces.

Yes. Choose SOCKS5 as the type and paste the full line. For SerpProxies residential, use that product's SOCKS5 port from the dashboard; static ISP lines work over HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS5.

Either works. HTTP is the simpler default; pick SOCKS5 if your tools need it. Keep the same type for the life of the profile.

Whether AdsPower could connect through the proxy — "Connection test passed" or "Connection test failed" — before you save. Confirm the IP and country again with the IP checker inside the launched profile.

Rotating mobile proxies: opening the link gives the proxy a new IP, for every profile that shares it. Leave it empty for static ISP and residential lines.

They can, but for accounts on the same platform they should not — a shared IP links the accounts. One IP per profile.

Static ISP for accounts you keep logged in, because the IP never changes. Sticky residential sessions, up to 120 minutes, for short tasks that finish within one session.
