NetNut status · since July 2, 2026

Since July 2, 2026, NetNut's websites have shown an FBI domain-seizure notice, and no restart has been announced.

  • netnut.io, netnut.com and other NetNut pages show a notice that the domains were seized by the FBI, with the DOJ and IRS Criminal Investigation, in an action against the NetNut residential proxy platform.[1]
  • Alarum Technologies, NetNut's Nasdaq-listed parent, said it learned of the seizure on July 2, 2026 and would fully cooperate with law enforcement.[2]
  • In a Form 6-K filed in July 2026, Alarum said it would temporarily pause traffic through the affected network services and that, as of that release, neither it nor NetNut had been formally contacted by the FBI or any other authority.[3]
  • On July 13, 2026, Alarum said it still did not know the exact root cause of the disruption and that any restart would go through a legal, technical and compliance review.[4]
  • No restart had been announced as of October 9, 2026, when every NetNut page we checked still showed the seizure notice.[1]
The short answer

NetNut is offline: since July 2, 2026 its domains have shown an FBI seizure notice, and its parent, Alarum Technologies, paused traffic through the affected services and has not announced a restart. Before that it sold residential proxies on monthly plans from $99 for 28 GB ($3.53/GB) down to $1.87/GB on a 2 TB plan. In a replacement, look for a stated consent basis for the residential pool and published prices — SerpProxies says every residential IP is consented and opt-in, and charges $1.15/GB at 10 GB and $0.65/GB at 1 TB, pay as you go.

What residential traffic costs on each

NetNut's figures are its last published prices, from archived copies of its own site before it went offline; ours are the rates checkout charges today.

10 GB of residential trafficSerpProxies$11.51[5]$1.15/GB · pay as you goNetNut$98.84[6]$9.88/GB · Starter (monthly), buys 28 GB
100 GB of residential trafficSerpProxies$97.59[5]$0.98/GB · pay as you goNetNut$345.00[6]$3.45/GB · Advanced (monthly)
500 GB of residential trafficSerpProxies$383.31[5]$0.77/GB · pay as you goNetNut$1,425[6]$2.85/GB · Semi-Pro (monthly)
1 TB of residential trafficSerpProxies$653.12[5]$0.65/GB · pay as you goNetNut$2,490[6]$2.49/GB · Professional (monthly)

Each figure is the cheapest way to buy that much from the provider's own published price list: when a plan's minimum is larger than what you need, you pay for the whole plan, and a bigger plan wins whenever its lower rate makes up for it. Taxes excluded. The lowest cost in each row is blue.

About NetNut

NetNut, on the record

Facts from their own site and policies — no review-site hearsay. Each one is linked to its source.

What NetNut does well

  • Before the seizure, NetNut claimed 85M+ rotating residential IPs in 195 countries and more than 1M static ISP IPs.[6]
  • It published per-GB monthly prices for five proxy types, with annual billing about 15% cheaper.[6]
  • Its datacenter proxies were listed from $1.00/GB down to $0.50/GB on monthly plans.[20]
  • It also sold a Website Unblocker, SERP and other scraper APIs, and datasets alongside its proxies.[6]

Where NetNut is limited

  • Since July 2, 2026, netnut.io and NetNut's other domains show a notice that they were seized by the FBI, with the DOJ and IRS Criminal Investigation; nothing can be bought.[1]
  • Alarum said in a July 2026 SEC filing that it would temporarily pause traffic through the affected NetNut network services.[3]
  • On July 13, 2026, Alarum said it still did not know the exact root cause of the disruption and that any restart would first go through a legal, technical and compliance review.[4]
  • Before the seizure there was no pay as you go: every plan was a monthly commitment, from $99 a month.[12]
  • Its free trial was limited to registered companies that passed KYC.[6]
Which one fits

An honest verdict

Choose SerpProxies if…

  • You need working residential traffic now: start on the free trial with no card and test your targets before you spend anything.
  • You were on a NetNut monthly plan and would rather pay as you go: $1.15/GB at 10 GB, $0.65/GB at 1 TB, and the balance never expires.
  • You need country, state, city and ASN targeting included, with HTTP(S), SOCKS5 and UDP on residential.
  • You used several NetNut products: residential, mobile, static ISP and datacenter proxies are all on one SerpProxies account.
  • You want a provider that states every residential IP is consented, opt-in and audited.
Switching

Moving from NetNut takes an afternoon

  1. 1

    Test on your own targets

Create an account and use the free residential traffic on the sites you actually scrape or run — no card needed.

  2. 2

    Swap the gateway

Replace host, port and credentials in your tool. Country, city and session settings go in the username string, so most code doesn't change.

  3. 3

    Move volume over

Top up a balance that never expires and shift traffic job by job. The per-GB rate drops automatically as your volume grows.

Switch in an afternoon

Same gateway format. No monthly plan. Credit that never expires.

Swap host, port and credentials, keep your targeting in the username, and move volume over job by job.

NetNut alternative: questions

Since July 2, 2026, netnut.io and NetNut's other domains have shown a notice that they were seized by the FBI, with the DOJ and IRS Criminal Investigation, in a law-enforcement action against the NetNut residential proxy platform. NetNut's parent, Alarum Technologies, said it would temporarily pause traffic through the affected services and cooperate fully with law enforcement. Krebs on Security reported allegations, including from Google's Threat Intelligence Group, that part of NetNut's exit-node pool overlapped with the “Popa” residential-proxy botnet. These are allegations; Alarum said it is examining whether third parties misused its network.

Alarum hasn't announced a restart. On July 13, 2026 it said it still did not know the exact root cause of the disruption and that any restart would go through an enhanced legal, technical and compliance review first. As of October 9, 2026, every NetNut page we checked still showed the seizure notice.

Its last published prices (archived February 2026) put rotating residential proxies on monthly plans from $99 for 28 GB ($3.53/GB) down to $3,750 for 2 TB ($1.87/GB), with annual billing about 15% lower. Mobile went from $7.60/GB on the $99 Starter plan down to $4.50/GB, static residential from $14.40/GB down to $4.50/GB, ISP proxies from $17.50/GB down to $5.00/GB, and datacenter from $1.00/GB down to $0.50/GB, all on monthly plans with no pay as you go.

Point your tools at a new gateway: swap the host, port and credentials, and set country, city and session options in the username string. You'll get new IP addresses, so update any allowlists that named NetNut's. On SerpProxies you can test your targets on the free residential trial with no card, then pay as you go — $1.15/GB at 10 GB, $0.65/GB at 1 TB, with a balance that never expires.

Ask the provider how residential IPs join the pool: through an app or SDK where the device owner opts in and can opt out, with that consent recorded. Look for a published sourcing policy, prices on the site rather than behind a sales call, and a company that answers the question in writing. SerpProxies states that every residential IP in its pool is consented, opt-in and audited.

Any provider that publishes its prices and how it sources residential IPs. SerpProxies sells residential, mobile, static ISP, datacenter, IPv6 and unlimited proxies on one pay-as-you-go account, with country, state, city and ASN targeting included — residential is $1.15/GB at 10 GB and mobile $1.94/GB.
