The short answer

Bright Data is the bigger platform: a 400M+ residential pool, scraper and SERP APIs, datasets and enterprise certifications that SerpProxies doesn't offer. It is also much dearer for plain residential traffic, at $8/GB pay as you go and $5/GB on its $1,999 plan against our $1.15/GB at 10 GB and $0.65/GB at 1 TB, and since July 2026 new residential access requires a registered company, a corporate email and a human-reviewed KYC check.

What you'll actually pay

What residential traffic costs on each

The same four orders priced on both. Bright Data figures come from its own price list; ours from the rates checkout charges.

10 GB of residential trafficSerpProxies$11.51[1]$1.15/GB · pay as you goBright Data$80.00[2]$8.00/GB · Pay as you go ($10 minimum deposit)
100 GB of residential trafficSerpProxies$97.59[1]$0.98/GB · pay as you goBright Data$700.00[2]$7.00/GB · $499 plan (monthly)
500 GB of residential trafficSerpProxies$383.31[1]$0.77/GB · pay as you goBright Data$2,500[2]$5.00/GB · $1,999 plan (monthly)
1 TB of residential trafficSerpProxies$653.12[1]$0.65/GB · pay as you goBright Data$5,000[2]$5.00/GB · $1,999 plan (monthly)

Each figure is the cheapest way to buy that much from the provider's own published price list: when a plan's minimum is larger than what you need, you pay for the whole plan, and a bigger plan wins whenever its lower rate makes up for it. Taxes excluded. The lowest cost in each row is blue.

About Bright Data

Bright Data, on the record

Facts from their own site and policies — no review-site hearsay. Each one is linked to its source.

What Bright Data does well

  • The largest residential pool it publishes among major providers: 400M+ IPs in 195 countries.[11]
  • Residential targeting down to city, US ZIP code, ASN and carrier is included at no extra cost.[10]
  • A broad product line beyond proxies: Web Unlocker, SERP API, Browser API, scraper APIs and ready-made datasets.[19]
  • Enterprise compliance: ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO 27017, ISO 27018, SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3 certifications listed.[19]
  • An SLA promising 99.99% uptime, 24/7 engineer support and 15-minute priority responses, with Slack access.[23]
  • Pay as you go is available on residential, ISP and datacenter, from a $10 deposit.[9]
  • Residential IPv6 and combined IPv4+IPv6 pools are available as zone options.[14]

Where Bright Data is limited

  • Since July 7, 2026, new residential zones are open only to registered companies with a corporate email domain that pass a human-reviewed KYC check; personal-email accounts are not eligible.[16]
  • Residential KYC can't be completed in Playground or Limited Trial mode; the account must be funded first.[16]
  • Residential list prices are $8/GB pay as you go and $7 to $5/GB on $499 to $1,999 monthly plans.[2]
  • Subscription fees are non-cancelable and non-refundable under the Master Services Agreement.[18]
  • Per-IP ISP and datacenter plans carry a 100 GB per IP per month fair-usage allowance; extra charges may apply above it.[24]
  • No mobile proxy price is published; the pricing pages list only residential, ISP and datacenter.[19]
Which one fits

An honest verdict

Choose Bright Data if…

  • You need the largest residential pool on offer: Bright Data claims 400M+ IPs in 195 countries.
  • You want scraping handled for you through its Web Unlocker, SERP API, Browser API, scraper APIs or ready-made datasets, which SerpProxies doesn't sell.
  • Your procurement requires ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II and an enterprise SLA with 24/7 engineer support.
  • You buy static ISP IPs in quantity: its shared ISP plans start at $1.80/IP a month and undercut ours between about 8 IPs and 600 IPs.
  • You pay by PayPal, Payoneer, Alipay, Google Pay or AWS Marketplace.

Choose SerpProxies if…

  • You want residential traffic for less: $1.15/GB at 10 GB and $0.65/GB at 1 TB, against Bright Data's $8/GB pay as you go and $5/GB on its largest listed plan.
  • You're an individual, a freelancer or a team without a corporate email domain, which Bright Data's residential KYC now excludes.
  • You want to try residential before paying: we give free residential traffic with no card, while Bright Data's trial credit can't unlock residential until the account is funded and KYC passes.
  • You need mobile proxies at a published price (ours: $1.94/GB at 10 GB) or UDP on residential.
  • You want refunds on request rather than non-refundable subscription fees.
Switching

Moving from Bright Data takes an afternoon

  1. 1

    Test on your own targets

Create an account and use the free residential traffic on the sites you actually scrape or run — no card needed.

  2. 2

    Swap the gateway

Replace host, port and credentials in your tool. Country, city and session settings go in the username string, so most code doesn't change.

  3. 3

    Move volume over

Top up a balance that never expires and shift traffic job by job. The per-GB rate drops automatically as your volume grows.

Switch in an afternoon

Same gateway format. No monthly plan. Credit that never expires.

Swap host, port and credentials, keep your targeting in the username, and move volume over job by job.

Bright Data alternative: questions

For residential traffic, yes, at every volume from 1 GB to 1 TB. At 10 GB we charge $1.15/GB against Bright Data's $8/GB pay-as-you-go list price; at 1 TB we're at $0.65/GB against $5/GB on its $1,999 plan (above that, Bright Data quotes custom enterprise prices). Bright Data's shared static ISP plans are cheaper than ours between about 8 IPs and 600 IPs.

Not for new residential zones. Since July 7, 2026, Bright Data's documentation says residential access is only for registered companies with a corporate email domain that pass a human-reviewed KYC check, and there is no instant or self-serve path. ISP, datacenter and Web Unlocker don't need that KYC. SerpProxies asks for verification only when a risk check calls for it.

New accounts get a one-time $2 trial credit valid for 7 days, plus a $5 bonus for 30 days after adding a payment method. Its 5,000-credit monthly free tier covers APIs, not proxies, and residential KYC can't be completed in trial mode. SerpProxies gives free residential traffic with no card.

Bright Data's Master Services Agreement says subscription fees are non-cancelable and non-refundable. SerpProxies refunds on request under its satisfaction guarantee.

A larger claimed residential pool (400M+ IPs), scraping products (Web Unlocker, SERP API, Browser API, scraper APIs, Scraper Studio), datasets, published security certifications and payment by PayPal, Payoneer, Alipay or AWS Marketplace. SerpProxies sells proxies only: residential, mobile, static ISP, datacenter, IPv6 and unlimited.

Create an account, claim the free trial and swap the gateway host, port and credentials in your tool. Country, city and session settings go in the username string, so most scrapers need only a new proxy URL. If you rely on Bright Data's Web Unlocker or scraper APIs, keep those or replace them with your own scraping code; SerpProxies supplies the proxies.
